The United States has more than 1,000,000 people either in jail, or awaiting trial. We've overused incarceration so much we've succeeded in socializing a whole generation to going to jail. Even worse, when individuals get out of prison, they almost always have the same problem that got them into trouble in the first place. That's why 80% end up right back in prision. That's why incarceration doesn't work. The Andrew Glover Youth Program provides an alternative. The Andrew Glover Youth Program provides an alternative to incarceration that works. The idea is simple. Instead of sending kids to jail, the court sends them to us. Our mission is threefold:
We help solve the problems that got the kid into trouble in the first place. It could be a family problem. A drug habit. Alcohol abuse. Or illiteracy. The kid may need counseling. Tutoring. Job training. Or rehab. Sometimes they need a place to live. Food. Even clothing. Whatever the problem, we can almost always find a way to help. And when we do, we solve the real problem- something amazing happens. The kid doesn't get into trouble again.
